Association for the Disabled and the Old Aged,
Orange Farm, Gauteng |
| The Alexander Forbes Community
Trust contributed three rail containers, which
were turned into proper classrooms with desks,
chairs and chalkboards. The Trust also provides
a stipend for voluntary teachers as well as breakfast
for about 200 participants who attend classes
five days a week. The participants, being the
aged and disabled, are empowered in a variety
of life skills. |

for the Care of the Aged, Katlehong, Tokoza and
Vosloorus, Gauteng |
| The society is involved
in three main programmes: |

The old age home, which
provides a frail-care centre for the aged |

Home-based care services
for those affected and infected by HIV/Aids |

Service centres which
provide luncheon clubs and extra-mural activities. |

| The Alexander Forbes Community
Trust contributed to the renovation of the old
age home. The renovations included upgrading of
beds, linen and flooring in the frail-care centre.
The frail-care centre currently has 47 occupants. |

| Ituro Oriseng Care
for the Aged – “Let’s Care For
Them”, Hammanskraal |
| Providing a shelter for neglected
and destitute senior citizens, the home provides
24-hour care for the elderly, three meals a day,
health care, extra mural activities and general
assistance with regard to social grants. The Trust
has contributed towards the renovation of the
old aged home and some of the staff from Alexander
Forbes have volunteered their time to provide
assistance. |

| Similar to Ituro, the Trust
also contributed towards the renovation and up-keep
of the old age home. |

| Ekuphumleni Home
for the Aged (Community Chest) |
| Ekuphumleni is an old age home
under the auspices of the Port Elizabeth Association
for the Aged, with 56 vulnerable permanent residents
who are dependent on Ekuphumleni for their well-being.
The old age home also provides a 24-hour frail-care
facility for about 28 residents. The Trust contributed
towards the renovation of the home. |
